Lillie the toddler

Lillie has started to walk a lot more, especially when she is getting tired.  She will also start babbling more towards the end of the day.  It's like she spends her whole day quietly exploring and then at the end of the day she wants to tell us all about it.  I got a video of her walking, talking and stopping to read before we got ready for bed tonight.

11 months!

The countdown to 1 year has officially started. Lillie's walking has really picked up steam, so by her first birthday she may run in her first marathon. Along with her increased mobility, Lillie's curiosity has grown more focused. This has made it harder to distract her when she starts going towards something she shouldn't. In fact, if I start to come to get her away from something, she speed crawls away from me while giggling. Her curiosity is evident in her 11 month pictures as she was too into investigating the Cabbage Patch doll to smile for the pictures, no matter what noises/faces Eric and I made.

Tunnel baby

At Lillie's Tiny Tots class this week, there was a tunnel for the tots to crawl through. Lillie was hesitant about it at first, but a ball in the tunnel soon coaxed her to try it.

That didn't take long...

Lillie is now walking.  It is for short amounts of time, but she is definitely taking several steps.  I can't believe how quick she does everything.  It is really fun to see what she deems worthy of walking to and what she just speed crawls to get.

Fishing for Buddy

The dogs have started to try to grab Lillie's toys through the gate.  They are no longer content with just waiting until she inevitably throws her toys to them; they are getting proactive.  The other day Buddy tried to grab what was an arc for Lillie's activity chair, but is now just being used as Lillie's wiggling stick.  I told Buddy to leave it alone and being the champ that he is, he left it alone.  Lillie watched the scenario played and and decided to get involved.  She took the pole and started sticking it through the gate to get Buddy to take it.  He again rejected this toy knowing that he was not supposed to grab it.  That it when Lillie started wriggling it furiously at him and then she eventually just threw the whole thing downstairs since Buddy wouldn't grab it on his own.  Most days, the dogs have no idea what they should be doing...

Here you go Buddy!
Why won't you take it!

Off and running

In the last week, Lillie went from not really wanting to try taking a step, assisted or otherwise, to running with her turtle mower.  I know I was excited for her to start walking, but I really thought it would take longer.  At this rate she will be running circles around me by Wednesday.  I mean she hadn't even taken a step with this toy until she did this today.  Way to ease me into it kid.

Daddy assisted walking

Lillie is starting to want to practice walking. When Eric comes home he assists her by leading her around the living room.  She has gotten really good at cruising using Dad's fingers.

Lil' Doctor Who fan

Doctor Who is a show that has a huge fan base, which includes Eric and me.  Eric and I had previously attended our first Comic Con in Minneapolis so that we could see a Q & A with one of the actors that have played an incarnation of the Doctor.  Being such fans, when we saw a stuffed Tardis that was for ages 0+, we had to get it for Lillie.  She really seems to be enjoying it, so I guess it means fandom is genetic.

"If I bite it maybe it will take me through space and time!"

Because... Duct tape

Today, Lillie learned a valuable lesson in home improvement:

"If you can use duct tape; use duct tape."

"With this I will create the AWESOME"
